Spring 2017 Music Munndays begins March 6Posted by LDDA on Jan 23, 2017 in News | Comments Off on Spring 2017 Music Munndays begins March 6
In addition to live music, the LDDA brings board games and coloring pages for concert goers.
Music Munndays began in February 2016 with an eight-week series of performances in the park. LDDA Executive Director Julie Townsend said the concerts were a resounding success, which made it easy to bring back the event for the fall.
The spring series was phenomenal from the ISO’s perspective, says ISO Executive Director Amy Wiggins.
“We love any opportunity to bring live music to the community, and it appeared as though the people in Lakeland and those who traveled from outside the city loved it,” Wiggins says. “I think Julie and I were both surprised by how many people came out. We look forward to doing this again, because Downtown is such a fun place to be.”
“Our goal in the spring was to draw people out of their offices to enjoy a picnic lunch on their breaks,” she says.
Townsend and Wiggins were pleasantly surprised to find that parents and their young children, professionals who work from home, and retirees came to the park with chairs and blankets. Rather than just spend their lunch hour, many stayed for the full two hours.
“We hope that they come back,” Townsend says.
Townsend also is reaching out to schools that are within walking distance in case they want to bring their classes to the park.
These events are free and open to the public. Munn Park is located at 201 E. Main St.
